This Saturday a double bill is to get Salzburg’s footballing year of 2008 underway. A pair of friendly matches will see the action resume at the Bulls Arena.
At 12:00 midday the Arena will host an intriguing tie between Lars Söndergaard’s new side and his old club as Red Bull Juniors take on Wacker Innsbruck. The Young Bulls’ new Coach will not be making a personal appearance however, as private commitments are to prevent the Dane from taking over the reigns of the Salzburg youth team until 17 January.
Straight after comes a match-up between the Austrian Champions and German Regional League South side KSV Hessen Kassel.
The Regional League side will also be getting their first taste of match action in 2008, although they have already competed in an indoor tournament in Ingolstadt. The long-established Hessian club, known affectionately as the Lions, face a 15 match battle over the next few months to secure qualification for the new German Third Division.
At the moment Hessen Kassel lie in 11th place in the Regional League South. Their intense tour of Austria will see them contesting another friendly match on Sunday against LASK in Linz.
The German side will provide the Bulls with their last opposition before they head to their Dubai training camp.
Michael Streiter will sit alongside Giovanni Trapattoni for the first time on the Bulls’ bench, while Manuel Pamic looks likely to make his playing debut for the champions.
