Adriaanse and Zickler look back on a pleasing pre-season with just 18 days remaining until league season starts.
The Red Bulls face more friendly matches: Union Volksbank Vöcklamarkt v Red Bull Salzburg, Wednesday, 25 June 2008 – 6:00 pm Vöcklamarkt.
Red Bull Salzburg v Spartak Moscow Saturday 28 June 2008 – 6:00 pm Mittersill.
UEFA EURO 2008 has left Salzburg and the Red Bulls are heading back into town. The team have been granted a two day break this weekend after completing a tough and intense training camp at Irdning. Co Adriannse’s Red Bulls have been well provided for with superb facilities in Styria despite some unusually rough weather. Three wins were recorded in three friendly matches. The 1-0 win over Vladivostok was matched with a 3-0 success against FC Magna and a 15-0 rout of FC Annaberg on the way back on Friday. 18 days before the new season kicks off with a match against Mattersburg at the Red Bull Arena, Red Bull Salzburg present their A to Z guide to the new season from Messrs Adriaanse and Zickler:
Adriaanse: “We worked really hard and I think that we have improved in all areas. Crucially the team spirit is really good. The goal of the friendly matches has mainly been just to get to know each other better as footballers and not to pick up any injuries. We still need to improvise because of international absentees but we are making the best of things. Next week Opdam is coming on Monday, Sekagya on Wednesday and the Austrian internationals will come back on 30 June. At the moment I am thoroughly pleased with the condition of my team though a lot more remains to be done!”
Zickler: “The last few days and weeks were really important for the team to develop and gel. It was tough going at times but the past few days of training have been really good. We will have to wait and see what condition the returning internationals are in but I think they will slot back right into our team really quickly. Now is the time to do some fine tuning and we will then be able to run out against Mattersburg totally prepared.”
