Red Bull Salzburg go back to training.

Trapattoni and Matthäus put 13 players through their paces at the Taxham training centre.

Important Champions League information. . .

12 June 2007.
At 10:29 this morning Giovanni Trapattoni and fitness trainer Dottore Fausto Rossi signalled the start of a new season for Red Bull Salzburg by strolling onto the training pitch in Taxham with a large number of rubber mats.

’The mister’ then carefully placed the mats on the fresh turf, setting the scene for the resumption of training.

The following 13 players took part in the first session of the new campaign: Arzberger, Özcan, Meyer, Knavs, Dudic, Alex, Miyamoto, Carboni, Janocko, Pitak, Jezek, Lokvenc and Zickler.

New signing Sasa Ilic will first don a Bulls’ training vest during the forthcoming training camp in Styria, and Timo Ochs’ absence was due to him undergoing a fitness test this morning in Thalgau.

The champions’ internationals (Aufhauser, Kovac, Vargas, Vonlanthen and Steinhöfer) have been granted some extra rest to ensure that they are firing on all cylinders during the long season ahead.

The Bulls have already made their goals for 2007/2008 loud and clear: a successful defence of the title and qualification for the prestigious group stages of the Champions League.
Viennese giants Rapid and Austria have been re-equipping their squads and should be expected to mount a fierce title challenge.

Important dates for Champions League qualification:
  • The draw for the 1st and 2nd qualifying rounds of the UEFA Champions League is to take place on Friday 29 June 2007 in Nyon.
  • The Bulls will enter the competition in the second qualifying round where they will meet a winner from the previous stage.
  • The match-ups for the 3rd Champions League qualifying round are to be drawn on Friday 3 August, in between the Bulls’ first pair of qualifiers (on 31 July/1 August and 7/8 August).
